Wyatt Studio

Painting | Kumiko Woodwork
Wyatt Studio will be home to three artists—Margaret Wyatt, Lauraine King and Jake Wyatt—whose practices converge through a shared respect for craftsmanship, nature and the quiet narratives held within materials.

Margaret’s work draws from the rugged beauty of Western Australia’s bushland and coast. Using acrylics, oils, charcoal and rust, she explores shifting light and expressive textures to capture both the vitality and fragility of the natural world. Her paintings encourage reflection on our responsibility to protect forests, trees and oceans.

Lauraine’s practice is rooted in classical oil painting, influenced by Rembrandt and the chiaroscuro traditions of the Dutch masters. Her still life compositions—fruits, flowers, vases and curios—are crafted on carefully prepared canvases and often housed in repurposed antique frames. She also pursues printmaking, extending her classical approach into new creative territory.

Jake brings a contemplative dimension through his Kumiko fine woodcraft. Working with Australian timber, he transforms the life of the tree into geometric patterns guided by patience, precision and presence. His process emphasises stillness, intentional movement and the quiet strength found in delicate forms assembled with care.

Together at Wyatt Studio, these three artists offer visitors a rich, diverse and deeply reflective creative experience.
